Over the past 20 years, a great change has occurred in the industry. In addition to small start up funeral homes and cremation services that often go out of business soon after opening, large corporations have bought many funeral homes, cemeteries, and related companies. With an industry whose history was almost exclusively locally owned, and operated in the best interest of the community, today many of the companies now exist primarily for the financial benefit of their stockholders. To keep this from happening, the Mount Olivet Cemetery Association was formed and today is overseen by a Board of Trustees. Because our crematory is a part of a not-for-profit organization, no one person or group has a proprietary interest. All profits go into the ongoing beautification, maintenance, and operations of the organization properties.
